At Adapt Recruit, we are currently looking for caring and enthusiastic individuals for a residential children’s service passed in Hove. The position is a full time permanent position providing support to 8-18 year olds with Emotional and Behavioural difficulties, challenging behaviour and mental health concerns. To be considered for this position you must be able to work x5, 8 hour shifts per week, including weekends and bank holidays. You will also be required to do at least 2 sleep-ins per month.

  • Willingness to participate in training programmes
  • Satisfactory pre employment checks

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for a designated additional area of work carried out in the home.
  • Immediately alerting the Unit Manager and/ or Director of any concerns regarding inappropriate or unacceptable practice occurring within the home, the organisation or external agencies.
  • Delivering the therapeutic practice approach carried out at the home.
  • Actively maintain the environment of the home to a high standard including carrying out domestic duties and laundry.
  • Assisting with the provision of play, creativity and activities within the home, including celebrations and festivities.
  • Assisting in maintaining effective care and control of the young people through use of appropriately authorised restraint and control techniques (following completion of training courses).
  • Compiling and contributing to reports and other documents as required.
  • Acting as a Key Worker and advocate to the young people in our care
  • Managing the young person’s individual file.
  • Liaising with all relevant professionals and interested parties including the team and manager of the home, on any decisions affecting the care plan of the young person.
  • Forming meaningful working relationships with the young person.
  • Weekly key work session with key child, and responsibility for informing the young person of decisions affecting their care plans and lives.
  • Ensuring the young person is provided with all necessary clothing and equipment
  • Preparing review reports and monthly summaries of individual logs.
  • Attending internal and external meetings and forums as necessary.
  • Fully participating in the formal process of supervision.

Desirable Criteria:

  • A minimum of 1-year proven experience gained in the field of residential child care.
  • A reasonable understanding and awareness of current child care legislation.
  • A reasonable level of competency in the use of word-processing and computers.
  • Full UK driving licence.
